International puppetry festival opens in Hanoi

The second International Puppetry Festival opened at the Hanoi Opera House on September 4 as an activity to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi. The festival is drawing the participation of 12 foreign troupes and five from host Vietnam , including the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre, the Thang Long Puppetry Theatre and the puppetry troupes from Hai Phong city, Dak Lak province and Ho Chi Minh City.

Thang Long Imperial Citadel - a world cultural heritage site

The Thang Long Imperial Citadel was built in the 11th century by the Ly Dynasty. It was constructed on the remains of a Chinese fortress dating from the 7th century, on drained land reclaimed from the Red River Delta in Ha Noi.

A fireworks festival will be held at My Dinh national stadium on October 10 as part of the cultural and artistic night to mark Thang Long-Hanoi millennium anniversary.

A night festival with flower garlands and coloured lanterns entitled “Thang Long Hallmark” was held at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Relics on July 31 to celebrate the 1,000 th birthday of the capital city of Hanoi.

Culture exchange Festival of Vietnamese different ethnic groups and areas

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has approved the final scenario “Culture exchange Festival of Vietnamese different ethnic groups and areas” to be performed in the 1000th Thang Long – Hanoi anniversary. The festival will take place from the 7th to 10th of June, 2010 in Hanoi. The number of participants is about 1000 people including craftsmen, artists, actors from 34 provinces, cities from different areas over the country.

Hanoi to host flower festival

A flower festival will be organised this summer in the Hanoi’s ancient Thang Long Imperial City to mark the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long- Hanoi.
